Privacy Policy

This policy explains what DamnChess collects during the public alpha and how it is used. We aim to collect only what the game needs to run and to keep play fair.

What we collect

  • Account: your username and a securely hashed password. We never store your password in plain text.
  • Profile: anything you choose to add — bio, country, and an avatar image you upload.
  • Gameplay: your games, moves, clocks, ratings, token ledger, friends, and chat/messages.
  • Anti-cheat signals: move timing and tab focus/visibility events during a game, used only to detect engine assistance.
  • Technical: basic logs needed to operate and secure the service.

How we use it

Data is used to run matches, keep balances and ratings correct, power profiles and leaderboards, deliver messages, and detect cheating. We do not sell your data. We do not run third-party advertising trackers.

Local storage on your device

Your browser stores your session token, theme, equipped cosmetics, sound and notification preferences, and cached game analysis. These stay on your device; clearing site data removes them.

Sharing

Public information — your username, rating, country, avatar, and finished games — is visible to other players by design. We share data with service providers only as needed to host the game, and when required by law.

Retention and your choices

We keep account and game data for as long as your account exists and as needed for fair-play review. Because this is an alpha, data may be reset. To request account deletion or ask a privacy question, contact us through the channel listed on the site.
